January 2018. For me, ALL January's mean one thing, filing accounts. Exciting? Not so much. So with a brief few moments away from the spreadsheets, I thought I'd have a sneaky look back at a few more uplifting and wondrous moments from the last 12 months I've spent as a wedding photographer around and about the UK...
Sometimes, it's not until you take a step back and look at your working life, that you suddenly gain a little extra affection for your profession. Working for yourself in the wedding photography industry can sometimes be a bit daunting and a touch lonely. Looking back across 2017, I was reminded just how lucky I was to spend so many wonderful days in the company of friendly couples all looking to celebrate their big day. Lonely? No way! I have to admit to being quite amazed at the continued warmth that all of my clients radiate towards me, and I always feel like a part of the celebrations, not just 'the hired help'. As well as some of the beautiful people I have met, I've also been in my element visiting venues I have fond memories of and getting to see and photograph new ones too from around the country. New, old, a little unusual... I've had a lovely mix to keep my photographic eye and equipment busy.
So as I step back and remember all the wonderful moments from 2017, I thought, 'there aren't many jobs where you get to do something you love, with happy, joyous people, smiling from dawn till dusk, at some of the most amazing and breathtaking buildings and landscapes in the UK.'
In conclusion, I have put a mini gallery together below (huge apologies if I've missed anyone) of just a small number of highlights from my wedding photographer world in 2017. Congratulations to all of the lovely couples I worked with and here's to a great 2018!
