Double date you say? That sounds fun! Never seems to work out like the movies though do they? What would be even more unlikely is for two fellas to go out and meet two lovely ladies in a pub, and both ending up as long term relationships, right? Well not only did Georgette and Jordan put that question to bed, they went and asked this humble wedding photographer to capture their big day for them too, as they tied the knot at Washingborough Hall... and obviously, they were joined by Rosa and Joe... the other couple that blossomed following this serendipitous meeting in a beer garden, all those years before...

The Wedding of Georgette and Jordan

So our happy couple, met in the most chance of circumstances, and I was so delighted that they chose me as their wedding photography, at Washingborough Hall, near Lincoln. And on that note, I must mention the stunning venue itself, that this gorgeous pair chose to host their big day. If you haven't seen it, heard of it or been to it, DO IT! What a choice Georgette and Jordan made... an incredible, Grade II listed, Georgian manor house, set in Lincolnshire. A truly gorgeous backdrop to any wedding, with eye catching architecture, manicured gardens and a stones throw from the historic city of Lincoln. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing Washingborough, and always, the staff and team make such a difference. Lucy, the owner, thank you for making everything so effortless during the day... not just for me, but the entire wedding... it was a joy to capture on film. The one thing that photography can't quite do justice to though is the food. To quote a certain frosty judge of all things dance on our screens right now, "A. May. Zing!" In fact, when I spoke to our newlyweds about their venue choice, the first thing they mentioned was the food, and to quote, they described it as simply, "brilliant." Not picked a wedding venue just yet? Washingborough Hall needs to be on your 'to visit' list.

However, a wedding venue can only play so much of a part... our bride and groom to be are our most important element, and what a joy they were to work with. Georgette, who works in food manufacturing, and Jordan, a financial advisor met and fell in love, leading up to the day that Jordan popped the all important question. Now, I'm no marriage expert, nor am I a genius of romantic proposal, but as a wedding photographer, I do know a few of the do's and dont's along the way. As part of wedding proposals 101, I'm pretty sure that there is an excerpt in there somewhere that states quite clearly, "do not involve things that your prospective partner either dislikes or is phobic of, when asking them to marry you." Pretty standard advice to follow I'd imagine, right? Well Jordan, knowing that his potential bride to be is, in her words, 'terrified' of cows, believed the best option would be to whisk his gorgeous girlfriend away to... a field of cows. I'll let Georgette finish the story off...

"...we were walking next to them (and saw the bull, and the calves), and I exclaimed, 'Oh god, this is actually how we’re going to die,' to which Jordan replies, 'Well in that case...', and I turn around and he’s on one knee!"

All I can say is that Jordan is a braver man than me!

Now with camera in hand all day, you get to spot things that make you smile throughout, so I thought I'd just mention a few extras that caught my eye. Firstly, Will, our beautiful brides brother, and indeed, was also a groomsman, showed off a talent that I wasn't expecting... playing the church organ! Incredible, and a joy to watch and listen to. Another lovely touch whilst photographing their wedding, was seeing that the Maid of Honour, was none other than Jan, Georgette's mum.... special. And on a similar note, our Best Man during this fantastic wedding day, was Jordan's step father, Jerry. A job very well done!

Congratulations to Georgette and Jordan!
